Within this contemporary theory and curricular practices in art education course, I have been introduced to significant theories present in the art room as well as how to apply these theories within areas of planning/preparation,  professional practice, and a practicum experience. That being said, I had the opportunity to complete significant artifacts throughout this course that highlight several areas of these learned theories. This evidence can be found in each of the designated categories below.

Planning and Preparation (Lesson Plan Writing)

While learning about various key theories integrated within the discipline of art education, I have applied this learning into several lesson plans with project samples included within them that may be utilized to address these topics. Furthermore, as shown below, I have both one page lessons in addition to more detailed lessons that had been utilized within hands-on teaching experiences.

Through the incorporation of individual values, students will become aware of the multicultural characteristics present in the art room by collaborating on a classroom mural as highlighted in the lesson above.

Practicum Lesson Plan

During this ArtEd 208 course, I had the opportunity to pursue a 25 hour partnered practicum alongside a cooperating teacher at a local high school. That being said, I had observed a classroom virtually, engaged with students, and taught a four day art lesson that highlighted student learning. Furthermore, I have included the lesson below that my partner and I planned and pursued during this experience.

Children's Art Club Lesson

In addition to pursuing a practicum experience, I also had the opportunity to participate in Children's Art Club as a participating teacher. That being said, I had been partnered with a classmate and engaged students virtually in an art lesson about integrating nature within art.

After learning about the key theories present in the art room, I have developed an essay that applies this learning into a foundation of what I plan to teach as an art teacher.

I Teach Art Which Means...

Teaching Philosophy (Foundations of Education)

To the left, I have outlined my teaching philosophy of art education that had been developed in a different art education course; however, the content applies to the focus of teaching strategies as well. Because of this factor, I have included the essay that derived from my developing philosophy below.

Elementary Curriculum Map

The elementary curriculum map that I have created is viewable below. Within this curriculum map that incorporates the theory of aesthetics in a seventh grade art room, I have included twenty different visual art lesson plans that progressively become more difficult as the academic year goes on.

High School Curriculum Map

Within the high school curriculum map that I have developed, I decided to integrate the theory of visual culture within the two-dimensional foundations course I created. Additionally, there are nine different lessons included that address a wide range of materials for students to become familiar with.
